Thursday, June 05, 2003Take a lookI had an interesting revelation today, as i was driving to the orthodontist. pause for a sec: I GOT MY BRACES OFF!!!. unpause. so anyway, i was driving and thinking about the verbal beating stephanie gave me in my comment box, and came to the conclusion that the people that get offended or disagree with me or my opinions, they have the god-given free will to press that small little "x" on the top right of this very box, and never again will they have to look at the title "Mario's World" or the opinions that slice the core of their very being and offend them so much. Righteo-that wasn't the revelation. The revelation does have to do with the complaining issue though. In order to comprehend where i stand on my outlook of life, you first have to understand that i was raised agnostic, and since then i have come about my own conclusions on the subject of god, heaven, hell, etc. If i ever have 3 hours to spare, i'll write an entry explaining all of that, but as it is, i don't. Anyway, i've often run across the question in my mind as to how evil exists in the world, because i don't believe in the devil. That thought led to the "there is no light without dark" theory-but that's been used before, and truth is, if i get a ball and suspend it in midair, and shine light on it from every direction (and if god is omnipresent, then that theory is actually viable), there is no shadow. Now we get Matrixafied. To explain this, i will temporarily go jesus-style on you and concoct a parable: A man has a block of ice and a lighter placed on a table. He picks of the ice and holds it, and soon his hand is freezing, and in pain. "This ice is evil!", the man exclaims. He throws the block of ice away and takes up the lighter, and with its flame he warms his hand. "This fire is good", the man exclaims. Now, another man in another place has the same objects on the table in front him. He picks up the lighter, and proceeds to burn him hand badly with it. "This fire is evil", the man exclaims. He then picks up the ice and touches his wound with it, and with that "This ice is good". Now, taken separately ice and fire are neither good are evil-they are simply ice and fire. Based on experience and point of view, the adjectives "evil" and "good" can be placed on either one. The same goes for every other "good" or "evil" thing in the world: There is no "good" or "evil", there are only actions and titles placed upon those actions. Point being-god created neither good or evil-he created the world. What we make of it-is up to us.
