Join up with me,
So you can see,
Hell's dark brew a-bleeding.
Breathe out the air,
All's foul and fair, when
The Siren's Song is pleading.

Surprised?

it's not that i particularly like metaphors, or that i consider myself or my writing to be more sophisticated when i use them, i just think jesus had a pretty good point: people get shit better when they can relate. so consider them to be parables, not metaphors.

ever driven an automatic? you probably have. i prefer standard myself, but automatic's have their advantages. one thing i don't like though: when you're getting onto the highway, you've gotten up to about 45 mph and then the gears shift, and all of a sudden all of your power is gone. so there you are, merging onto the highway, going 45 and from the looks it you might hit 46 once you're OVER this damn hill. so you start pumping the gas, hoping it will downshift, and stop the continuous blur of sound that is cars blaring their horns at you as they scream past you. then there's a moment. you press the gas down one final time and can almost feel the car decide to downshift. it hasn't done it yet, but there's the slightest pause, and you know that any second you'll get this burst of speed and power and can join the rest of the cars in their race to the unknown.

im in that moment. i can feel a pause. i know it's coming. but in this second life is still streaming past, blaring it's horn. it wants me to go, and i feel i'm about to give in.
